Balsams: Think resins. These are fragrances that smell soft & on occasion slightly sweet. Typically balsams will be base notes.
Citrus: This one is pretty self-explanatory. Notes from the citrus family, including grapefruit, lime, lemon, orange and citron.
Floral: Flowers! The type of floral note depends greatly on what it will lend to the fragrance. Iris for instance can lean more toward an earthy scent profile with undertones with the likes of spice or musk. Whilst honeysuckle tends to be sweeter and has nuances of honey or pollen.
Fresh/Herbal: This fragrance smells crisp and sometimes sharp. Includes aromatics, greens and water. Herbals notes such as sage or tea, green notes like freshly mowed grass or water notes like sea spray or rain.
Fruity: Fruit! Dependant on the fruit these fragrances can be bright or a bit moodier. Fruity notes may include the likes of fig, blackberry, apple or cherry.
Gourmand: One of our favourites. These fragrances take inspiration from food. Think desserts and baking - notes like pie, coffee, popcorn, caramel and vanilla.
Leather: This fragrance tends to possess a masculine smokiness that is reminiscent of leather.
Woody: Another favourite. Woody fragrances evoke the scent of freshly cut or dried wood. Common examples are vetiver, sandalwood, cedarwood or oudh.
